Mustard Caviar
From Try This At Home by Richard Blais.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp yellow mustard seeds
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a pan, toast 2 mustard seeds over medium-low heat for about 3-4 min, swirling the pan occasionally, until fragrant and just beginning to pop.
- In a small bowl, stir the sugar and water together.
- Pour the mixture into the pan, stir well, and cook for about 2-3 min, until the mustard seeds are swollen, the sugar dissolves and the liquid is reduced and syrupy.
- Remove from heat and let cool to room temp.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 wks.
